KCE distributes $5000 in latest Heartland funding round
Six King Country community groups have received funding totalling $5000 in the latest KCE Heartland funding round.
The successful groups applied for KCE Heartland funding in November 2014 and will this month receive grants ranging from $500 to $1,150.
In total, $18,701.70 has been distributed to 28 King Country community groups since KCE launched its Heartland Community Fund at the beginning of 2014.
The funding is distributed to successful King Country community groups following funding rounds that take place each March, July and November.
KCE community relations manager, Helen Peacock, said all successful recipients undertake projects that align with Heartland's core values of keeping the community safe, healthy, beautiful and connected.
"In most cases we have provided partial funding. Rather than a hand-out, this funding is a hand-up, getting community groups closer to their total funding goals," she said.
Mrs Peacock said the fund was designed to ensure KCE's support is spread as widely as possible throughout the organisation's operating areas.
"There are countless organisations out there doing great work in our King Country communities. Each funding round we are inspired by the vast array of groups that apply, and it is our privilege to show our support," she said.
In addition to the Heartland community fund, KCE also supports the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and is the naming rights sponsor of community netball centres in Te Kuiti, Otorohanga and Taumarunui.

Applications for the next round of Heartland funding open on 1 March 2015 and close on 31 March 2015.

Piopio Senior Citizens received funding towards the cost of a television and DVD player
Beattie Community Trust Inc received funding towards the cost of bedroom extensions at its rest home care facilities
Taumarunui Seniornet received funding towards the cost of updating technology equipment
Waimarino Community Toy Library received funding towards the cost of toy upgrades and replacements
Taumarunui & Districts Seasons Grief & Loss Programme received funding towards the cost of first aid related training
Taumarunui Community Disability Activity Group received funding towards ongoing operating costs
