Heather Claycomb founded HMC communications in May 2004 driven by her passion to tell a great story and support Waikato businesses in making a difference.
Her unique background in communications, marketing, sales and public relations across a broad range of industries have given her a strong foothold to run HMC Communications. With an expertise in corporate communications, Heather brings a unique perspective to her clients with the ability to approach communications issues from a strategic business perspective.
Born and educated in the United States, Heather earned her MBA from Lehigh University (Bethlehem, PA) in 1992 after receiving a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Shippensburg University (Shippensburg, PA) in 1990. After several years working in sales and marketing with a division of Management Recruiters International, Heather established a marketing communications consultancy in Denver, Colorado before immigrating with her husband to New Zealand in 1999.
Prior to forming her own consultancy, she worked as a Senior Consultant with PR firm, Baldwin Boyle Group (BBG). Her role involved managing the Fonterra-Ingredients account and working with Mighty River Power's hydro-generation and geothermal divisions.
During 2001 and 2002, Heather was with Hamilton City Council working in the area of Economic Development. This position combined her skills of marketing, communications, and project management.
Heather is on the Boards of Habitat for Humanity Central North Island and Willow Creek NZ. She is also a Trustee and former Chair of the Hamilton Science Awards Trust.
When she's not at work or volunteering, she's at her bach in the Coromandel or on the tennis court.
