BA Dip. Mktg., PRINZ member
Kate joined the HMC team in July 2016, initially as a contractor, and became a permanent staffer from January 2017.
Kate was based at Time Inc. in New York for four years, working on some of the world’s preeminent magazines, in the market research department. During that time she studied journalism at New York University and returned home to New Zealand to work as a feature writer for Waikato Times for five years. She was the editor Tempo, and won three Qantas Media Awards during her time with Fairfax.
Since leaving journalism to have children, Kate worked as a freelance writer and PR consultant. She has worked on four books and is currently working on a fifth (for NZTA).
Kate says listening is one of the most important skills for any professional, whether a writer or PR consultant. She enjoys meeting with clients, talking with them, and then finding ways to tell their story.
She also enjoys working on social media campaigns for clients, and working with journalists.
Kate has two primary-school aged children, and survives on coffee and chocolate.
