HMC NEWS: Award-winning PR agency expands into the Bay of Plenty

HMC Communications, an internationally acclaimed and national award-winning public relations agency, is now operating in the Bay of Plenty.

Suzi Luff, Papamoa-based and former Trustpower Community Relations Coordinator, along with Director Heather Claycomb are leading this move which follows a strong period of growth and success for the agency.

Claycomb says HMC Communications’ expansion into the Bay of Plenty is a logical next step for the public relations (PR) agency.

“HMC Communications is well-established in the Waikato, where we’ve assisted companies and not-for-profit organisations across the region with a range of communications services for fourteen years.

“We’ll now have a local presence in the Bay, with a full-service PR team available to hit the ground running.  We provide a range of PR services, from outsourcing 100% of an organisation’s communications requirements to helping with small writing projects or events,” says Claycomb.

Suzi Luff joins HMC Communications with over a decade of PR and communications experience across a number of sectors including conservation, tertiary education, the community and voluntary sector and the utilities industry. She has been based in Papamoa for over eight years.

With a vast collection of working relationships across the region, and around the country, Luff sees the style and personality of HMC Communications, what the agency offers and how the team operates as being a strong yet easy fit for the scope of businesses based in the Bay of Plenty.

“The Bay of Plenty is jam-packed with a huge range of businesses of different sizes from various industries. Some of our local businesses are well-established, while others are relocating here or just starting up. What each has in common however, is the vital need to build and protect their reputations, during business as usual and during times of crisis.

“I’m looking forward to working with local companies to build key relationships and create a strong understanding between themselves and their audiences. HMC Communications excels in this space, providing strategy, advice and implementing long- and short-term communications campaigns to support any business activity or organisational goal.

“I’m excited to be leading HMC Communications’ expansion in the Bay and can’t wait to work with local businesses and organisations,” says Luff.

HMC Communications’ move into the Bay of Plenty comes hot on the heels of the agency’s win of the Small PR Consultancy of the Year at the 44th Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ) annual industry awards in May.

Additionally, the agency won the Sustainable PR Award for their work with King Country Energy over the past five years and it was awarded Highly Commended in the Short-Term Campaign category for the launch of CRV Ambreed’s LowN Sires, a genetics game-changer for breeding greener cows.

These accolades follow four previous PRINZ Award category wins and being named as a Global Alliance COMM PRIX Award finalist in 2016 in Toronto – for its Buddy Day campaign for Child Matters being one of the 10 best PR campaigns in the world.
