Hamilton businesspeople invited to hear from social media experts

Businesspeople interested in learning about best-practice social media use for building business reputation are invited to attend a unique event in Hamilton next week.

The event, hosted by the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ) and held at Wintec on Tuesday 5 May at 5.30pm, will feature a panel of Hamilton's most accomplished users of social media for business purposes.

Panel members include Anj Jones, owner of The Girl on The Swing; Steve Carpenter, owner of Lead Social (who manages Good George social media channels); Jason Dawson, general manager of customer relationships at Hamilton City Council; Katy King, moderator of Residents of Flagstaff North community Facebook page, Vicki Annison, local communications and marketing consultant; and Finn Puklowski, general manager of United Sweets.

Waikato PRINZ events coordinator and director of HMC Communications, Heather Claycomb, said the event is open to all entrepreneurs or businesspeople with an interest in social media for business purposes.

"All panel members have experienced great business success thanks to their use of various social media channels. At the PRINZ event, they will share what works, what doesn't, why they enjoy it, and their top tips."

"Attendees, who will include local PRINZ members and businesspeople from across the city, are invited to ask questions and share their own insight as part of the event," Mrs Claycomb said.

The event will be held at Wintec's Media Arts Social Space, R Block (off Collingwood St) in Hamilton. Cost is $35+GST per non PRINZ member (attendees details will be noted and invoiced following the event). Drinks and nibbles provided.
